  Worst Tax Experience Unfortunately for us, we decided to have our taxes done with Mr. Robertson’s office for 2014 and 2015. Our experience for 2014 was OK, there was no personal interview like our previous experiences and when we asked if we were getting the maximum amount for our return they just looked at us strangely and asked us to sign. However, come 2016 I felt like some things might be getting missed so just for peace of mind ran my taxes myself through TurboTax (not a problem since unlike other offices, I already had to fill out all the paperwork myself for Mr. Robertson’s office). It turns out that their office missed my dependent entirely for BOTH years, costing us several thousand dollars. When I called to notify them of this and ask about our 2015 return, Mr. Robertson said that the error was not entirely our or their fault. We decided we wanted to go ahead and file our 2015 taxes ourselves because we were fearful of what other deductions may have been missed. We called and asked Mr. Robertson not to re-do the 2015 taxes to include our dependent because we had decided not to file with their office and what would the cost be. He said he couldn’t tell us (as they charge by their time), but that it wouldn’t be the full amount, as there was much work left to be done if they had to re-do all the paperwork to include our dependent and file. We decided that, rather than using Turbo Tax, we would use a tax office we had used previously but were out of state (Robert Hall & Associates). Robert Hall & Associates actually got us more back than just our dependent, thanks to our home office etc., something not at all addressed by Mr. Robertson’s office. They also gave us a personal interview (by phone since we are in a different state) to go over everything, took a maximum of 1/2 hour to complete our tax return and tell us our return amount, and apologized for the higher cost this year since they had to file in several states. THEN we received the bill for $497 (but a supposed $100 discount was applied so we would owe $397), which was much more than what we had ever paid in the past to have our taxes completed correctly (and just to note—higher than Robert Hall & Associates charged us for actually doing AND filing our paperwork). Not only was the rate extremely high, but the bill description was full of inaccuracies; such as, multiple phone calls (only spoke with the CPA once, unless they include speaking to the secretary in attempts to speak with the CPA) and stating our taxes were re-done to include our dependent, which Mr Robertson assured me that they would not do. So, I called the office and was told that Mr. Robertson was ‘in a meeting’ several times and then finally that he refused to speak to me. I was then transferred to the person in billing, Robin, who patronized me, and told me that I was 100% in the wrong for them not claiming my dependent. I find that pretty inaccurate since they didn’t have a section for dependents anywhere in their paperwork AND I had brought my toddler in with me to the office. She said I should have put it in the notes section. She also told me ‘How rude it was of me to have wasted company time during heir busiest tax season’ and accused me of trying to use their office as a tax comparison service (untrue as I had fully planned to file with them until I found the missing information and was treated poorly). The rude things she said go on and on, but you get the idea. This office both missed thousands of dollars on our returns AND took ZERO personal responsibility for their mistakes. They were beyond rude in their dealings and I can’t believe how this type of customer service could be acceptable to anyone. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS CPA!
