- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I would give them half a star if I could. Jackson County's Building Department is the worst experience. It's no wonder that many people in the county fly under the radar and don't go thru the building department for permits. The process of going through their check-in, zoning, and building, planning reviews takes hours and the fees are shockingly high, The staff makes you wait and wait while they do paperwork in front of you instead of serving you, it's obvious that no one there has any concern about excellence or improving their processes. Their jobs are secure and there is no wider accountability for the county to improve their. woefully outdated processes. In short, they are out of touch. They should take a lesson from the City of Medford building department staff which is crisply efficient and designed to help the customer rather then to perpetuate an ineffective bureaucratic mess.By Leslie Morgan, December 02, 2016
